OM Sarawak donates essential Ophthalmology equipment to Bintulu Hospital

Bintulu, 9 August 2024 – OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is proud to announce the donation of a new Table Top Auto-Ref/Keratometer Machine to the Ophthalmology Department at Bintulu Hospital. This vital diagnostic tool, replacing the department’s 20-year-old equipment, is essential for the accurate assessment and diagnosis of eye conditions, ensuring the continued provision of high-quality eye care to the local community.

The Auto-Ref/Keratometer Machine is a crucial piece of equipment for ophthalmologists, particularly for pre-operative evaluations in cataract surgeries, where precision is vital. The older machine had served the hospital for two decades, facilitating over 1,000 refractive error assessments and 400 biometry measurements in 2022 alone. However the need for an upgrade was urgent. The new machine will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and accurate diagnoses, ultimately improving patient outcomes and contributing to better overall eye health in the region.
